What are Clicker Dies Used For?
Clicker dies are used to cut materials using a swing arm clicker
machine like the one pictured to the right. Basically, a clicker
die is like a giant cookie cutter. A woman's handbag, for example,
has several different pieces stitched together to craft the
handbag. Each piece on the handbags require a separate clicker
die.
Cutting Applications
Cutting dies are used in unlimited manufacturing industries
where multiple pieces of material in various shapes must be
cut and stitched together.
~Footwear ~Armor ~Auto Interior ~Cellular & Mobile Accessories
~Headwear ~Leather Clothing ~Motorcycle Saddlebags ~Wallets
~Belts
~Gun Holsters ~Handbags ~Luggage ~Clothing and much more.
Materials
Cutting dies are used for cutting many different materials.
~Leather ~Plastic ~Plexiglass ~Fabric ~Foam ~Rubber ~Cardboard
~Paper ~Nylon ~Fiberglass ~Felt ~Cloth ~Thick Sole ~Aluminum
~Magnetic Rolls and much more.
Blades and Steel
Our dies are manufactured using spring steel blades from Bohler
Uddeholm. In comparison, the famous Katana Sword is manufactured
out of spring steel. We use spring steel from Bohler due to
its high frequency edged top-quality steel, optimized for best
bendability, high stability and outstanding cutting performance.
Extra Support
We weld cold roll steel braces inside the clicker die for extra
support. Cold rolling is a method of cold working a metal. When
a metal is cold worked, microscopic defects are nucleated throughout
the deformed area. These defects can be either point defects
(a vacancy on the crystal lattice) or a line defect (an extra
half plane of atoms jammed in a crystal). As defects accumulate
through deformation, it becomes increasingly more difficult
for slip, or the movement of defects, to occur. This results
in a hardening of the metal.
Quality Control
No die will leave our factory with-out our quality control inspection
double checking all corners, hole-punches, crew-punches, notches
and welds. Each completed die is matched to the original pattern
and a test cut will be conducted if necessary. All dies crafted
for "Final Cuts" will have a test cut to ensure accuracy
and precision.
